Apply a leather protector

Protect your leather sofa

Position your sofa away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can cause the leather to fade and dry out. Also, don’t place your sofa near a radiator or fireplace. Heat can dry out the leather and cause cracking.

Clean regularly

Gently wipe your leather sofa with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and dust. For those hard-to-reach areas such as crevices and seams, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment, but be gentle. Every few weeks, wipe your sofa down with a slightly damp cloth.

Clean spills immediately

If you spill something on the leather, immediately blot the area with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much of the spill as possible. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials on leather, as they can strip away the natural oils and damage the surface. Also, avoid using too much water, which can cause staining or dry out the leather.

Condition the leather

Apply leather conditioner to your sofa every six to twelve months to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out and cracking. Test the conditioner first on an inconspicuous area. Then, apply a small amount to a soft cloth and rub it into the leather using gentle, circular motions.

General care tips

Watch out for sharp objects such as keys, pet claws, jewellery, and belts, which can scratch the leather surface. Regularly plump the cushions; if they’re removable, rotate them to ensure even wear.

By following these care tips, you’ll prolong the life and appearance of your leather sofa and be able to enjoy it for many years to come. If you’d like to add a new leather sofa to your home, you can browse our complete collection here.
