If you want your home to be bang on trend this year, you need to be thinking purple.

This year's on-trend colour for home interiors is purple or PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet to be precise.

According to Pantone, the leaders in colour, purple is going to be a key colour for 2018.

Why purple?

Every year Pantone select a colour which they think will dominate in the forthcoming year. When making their decision, they consider what's happening in fashion, interiors and the wider socio-economic landscape.

Pantone's 2018 colour, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, is said to be "A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade that communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future."

In 2017 the Pantone Colour of the Year was 'greenery', chosen to represent the ongoing mindfulness trend of 2017, environmental issues and the threat of global warming.

So, what does this mean for home interiors?

Smothering your walls with the ultra violet purple paint would be a bold statement choice and unlikely to suit most home interiors. If you'd like to introduce purple as a wall colour, we recommend you use it minimally, on a feature wall, or choose a more toned done dusty purple.

If you're keen to bring purple into your home but prefer a less drastic approach than redecorating, replace your upholstery pieces instead. Purple can be a vivid statement colour so opt for an occasional chair, loveseat, chaise or ottoman.

If you want to go all out, choose a purple sofa. Sumptuous chenilles and velvet fabrics suit purple well and create a luxurious look. We sell many sofa ranges that come with a wide variety of fabric colour options including purple.

The quickest and easiest way to bring the on-trend purple vibe into your living space is to keep your décor and large upholstery items neutral and accessorise with coloured rugs, scatter cushions and throws.
